When you are three months pregnant, you are at the beginning of the second trimester, which is wonderful news.
Pregnancy per month: Third Month Pregnancy
In the third month of your pregnancy, some Third Month Pregnancy are nice and others a huge challenge. While all of these symptoms are perfectly normal during pregnancy, you may (thankfully) not encounter all of them.
- Weight gain
- More energy
- More vaginal discharge
- Varicose veins
- Dizziness
- Urinating often
- Feeling of calm
- Forgetfulness
- Changes in skin pigment
Third Month Pregnancy: changes inside and out
Embryonic Development: In the third month of pregnancy, the sex organs begin to form and your little one develops swallowing and sucking reflexes. Sensory development also continues: he can begin to hear the incoming muffled sounds from the outside world and will become sensitive to bright light. Very fine, soft hair will appear on the skin, also called lanugo, but most of this hair will have disappeared at birth.
Changes in your body: You may start to get a small tummy this month and your breasts will get a bit bigger, although it varies from woman to woman when this becomes more visible. One of the pregnancy symptoms that really belongs to the third month of your pregnancy is that you are less nauseous and feel more hungry. Pay attention to a healthy diet and focus on quality, not quantity. Some women discolor their skin pigment; they develop a dark line on the center of their abdomen or dark patches on the face. Some women have a radiant skin and you’ll be told – enjoy!
Diet and exercise in the third month of pregnancy
Many women notice that their (morning) nausea decreases and that they have a lot more energy. Use this energy to exercise. Talk to your doctor first, but walking, swimming, and pregnancy yoga are good and safe options.
Focus on a healthy pregnancy diet. Instead of three large meals, it is better to take a smaller portion with sufficient protein, vegetables, fruit and whole grain products more often. Drink enough and stick to the limit of 200mg of caffeine per day.
Pregnant women should avoid certain types of fish due to the presence of heavy metals. Also, avoid alcohol, unpasteurized milk and cheese, certain meats and raw eggs, and rinse fruits and vegetables thoroughly under the tap before cooking or eating them. Your healthcare provider can give you more detailed personal diet advice.
Third month pregnant: checklist
- Telling the big news: When you’re Third Month Pregnancy, you may want to share this with your friends and family. Think carefully about who you want to tell and how.
- Plan your maternity leave: Think about how you can discuss your maternity leave with your employer or client. Research what the options are and what you prefer. Make sure you come up with a good proposal before you discuss it with your employer, or work out how you plan your freelance assignments around this.
- Exercise and sports: Now that your stomach is not that big and your energy level is higher, the second trimester is the perfect time to go (again) sports. Talk to your doctor or midwife about safe, low-impact exercises for you.
- Band with your belly: Your little one can perceive the muffled sounds outside of the womb, such as your voice and your heart rate. Build a bond now by talking and singing to your baby, or listen to your favorite music together.
- Communicate with your partner: As parents, you both have your own experiences during a pregnancy. Talk to your partner about the ways he or she can help you. It involves the other person more and you don’t have to do everything alone. If you don’t have a partner, find out how friends or family can be there for you, such as going to a hospital exam or hearing the heartbeat for the first time.
