Crunchbase Person Profiles: What They Are and How To Create One
If you know anything about the popular platform Crunchbase, you’ll know that its focus is displaying the profiles of companies and organizations. These company profiles are used by almost every company you can think of, and has thereby made Crunchbase the first place many people go when it comes to researching various companies.
On the Crunchbase webpage, all the profiles you are able to see are probably company profiles. What you may not know, is that Crunchbase also has countless profiles on individual people (like this profile) that you can also view for your research.
Crunchbase’s person profiles are a bit different from your typical user profile. Meaning, not every user on Crunchbase will have their own personal profile, as those contain a lot more personal information than a user profile needs to.
In this article, we’re going to go over just what exactly makes up a Crunchbase person profile, and how you can create one yourself.
So What Is A Crunchbase Person Profile?
Person Profiles on Crunchbase are a lot like company profiles, actually. On both company and person profiles, you will find an array of public information about them. These things include their general location, what work they do, their various websites and links, and recent activities they have done.
One of the key components that link these two forms of profiles together is how you can navigate from a company profile to a person profile. For example, if we were to go to Apple’s Crunchbase page, and then navigate to their “People” tab, you will be able to access (in this instance) 679 employee profiles for the company. At the top of the employee profile page, you will have the leading individuals of Apple, including profiles of: Tim Cook, Eddy Cue (VP of Itunes), Dan Riccio (VP Hardware Engineering), Bruce Sewell, and others.
All of these profiles are available for access and you can click on them to learn more about the individual person and their job at the company they work for. This can be a great tool in understanding how a company functions, and for smaller companies it can even be a method of communicating with various individuals in a company.
For some of the larger individuals such as Warren Buffet, you can actually see their personal investments – which can be a fantastic tool in picking stocks to invest in yourself.
However, sometimes these aren’t always up-to-date. For our example, the personal investment tab only shows Buffet investing in one company, which we know is very outdated information. So, we recommend double checking using outside sources to confirm what investments an individual has made.
For Warren Buffet, you can head over to warrenbuffetstockportfolio.com, a site dedicated to tracking his latest stock purchases.
How To Create a Person Profile
Creating a Person Profile on Crunchbase is, fortunately, a pretty straight-forward process, but we’ll walk you through it nonetheless.
To start, head over to Crunchbase’s new profile page, which can be found here. Next, you will select “Person” from the six options in the types of profiles available. Following that, Crunchbase will ask you to provide a profile image, your first name and last name, and some other basic information.
You’ll also be allowed to include various social media links such as your Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and others. We recommend including all you feel comfortable with, as the more you include – the more likely you are to find contacts with your Person profile.
Following that, you can add your location, primary job, past jobs, organizations you have founded, your education, events you have participated in or managed, and any news that relates to you.
Keep in mind, it is not necessary at all to create one of these profiles for yourself if you don’t feel comfortable doing so. The person profiles are separate from the normal user ones, which can be kept private.
