Best Campgrounds in Utah

Camping is one of the best outdoor activities that are both calming yet adventurous. It requires areas with flat landscapes while being surrounded by nature. For that reason, there are certain areas in the United States where camping is favourable. Some of the best places are in Utah. Experiencing even one night of camping in Utah is a must for every outdoor enthusiast. There are reportedly 34 official campgrounds in Utah, as listed in the National Reserve of America. Check out the following campsites in Utah where you can camp with your friends and family.

Antelope Island State Park

The Antelope Island comprises an area which is considered the largest island in all of the Great Salt Lake in Utah. It is home to many animals, which includes the bighorn sheep, badgers, bobcat, and even coyotes.

For camping, the state park is available all year round, even during the wintertime. Since the island is one of the largest around the world, it features beaches, hiking trails, and official campsites with rangers available.

Bear Lake State Park

For a more water-centric activity, Bear Lake State Park is the perfect place. Located along the shorelines of Bear Lake, it accommodates water activities such as swimming, water skiing, scuba diving, and sailing. Fishing enthusiasts also enjoy catching trout, mackerels, and whitefish.

Beaches in this park have been a great place for a family reunion as well as yacht sailing.

Camp Floyd Stagecoach Inn Group Park

This park has a historical value due to it being a former American Army post. Today, it has become a campsite, and it also houses a museum. The area is registered in the National Register of Historic Places and is Utah State Park.

The campsite is open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. Overnight camping is currently not available. However, people of all ages and any number of people can enjoy a picnic or a midday camp.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

As exciting as its name suggests, the park features coral-like dunes. The dunes come from the Navajo Sandstone that surrounds the park.

The dunes are an excellent place for extreme outdoor activities such as hiking and off-road vehicle driving. There are also hundreds of photoshoots that occur in the area due to its beautiful scenery.

As for camping, official campsites surround the dunes for better terrain. There aren’t also many trees surrounding the dunes, which is why it is better to start setting up camp in the latter part of the afternoon.

Dead Horse Point State Park

If you want a place featured in a film, the Dead Horse Point State Park was the shooting location for a scene in the 1991 movie Thelma and Louise.

However, aside from its cultural value, the state park is one of the most excellent places for camping in Utah. The park has many amenities available such as picnic areas, visitor centers, and coffee shops. As such, if you want a campsite where you would not have to worry about packing a lot of equipment, this is the perfect place for you.
